So you might be asking yourself, did those crazy Randles succeed in their bathrobe-clad manifestation of a quick, symptom-free admission?  Well, the answer is ALMOST.  We were able manifest the “symptom-free” portion but fell short on the “quick” part.  Of the two, symptom-free was definitely the better choice.  Aside from a lumbar puncture on Wednesday & all the fun that goes with that procedure, this admission was an easy one.  So why are we still here?  That was Jack’s choice.  He was scheduled for a second lumbar puncture on Tuesday as an outpatient procedure.  So we would have been discharged on Saturday & come back on Tuesday for another LP.  When he has that procedure, they remove spinal fluid for testing & replace it with a small dose of chemo.  Afterwards, he has to lie flat for about an hour to prevent side effects.  Throughout the previous 7 LP’s, he’s experienced severe headaches & muscle spasms intermittently.   Based on those past experiences,  he wasn’t thrilled about having the LP & heading straight home.  Can’t say that I blame him.  So, he advocated for himself & got his LP changed to an inpatient procedure on Monday with a discharge later in the day once he’s avoided side effects.  While I’d prefer to be at home today, I’m proud that he spoke up for himself & got things rearranged to his satisfaction.  During this treatment marathon, that skill will serve him well.  We’ll be home on Monday & stay put until the last round of chemo on the 20th.  As always, thanks for everyone’s  love & support.  It’s appreciated!
