December 12, 2023

So it’s another day of “hurry up & wait” here on the old oncology unit.  We’ve come to understand that time is somewhat irrelevant. If you have a procedure scheduled at 10 am that doesn’t mean it’ll happen at 10 am. If your labs are out of whack they’ll fix those first. Then they’ll do more labs & find some other value is doing its own thing. More fixing. More labs. With a little luck all those precious ducks get in a row & the procedure’s completed. If not there’s tomorrow, We’re not going anywhere. Not great if you have issues with anticipatory anxiety or limited patience (I’m blessed with both!). Jack on the other hand is taking it all in stride. He might get that from his Dad but I’m going to credit the rock my friend, Anne, brought. It fits in your pocket & enhances a myriad of attributes; including patience. Jack blessedly only needs a pocket sized rock. I would honestly require a boulder! SO if any dear friends have access to a dump truck & a forklift, please feel free to drop off my patience stone…

And speaking of dear friends, let me take another opportunity to give a shout out to the amazing people who’ve surrounded us with love & support. Barely an hour passes without someone checking on us, helping us, offering their services or just sending us love & positive vibes. The three of us are amazed at the generosity of our friends & community. We knew you were all an awesome bunch but you’ve exceeded our expectations a million times over. You’ve come through for us in ways both big & small. We feel incredibly blessed, loved & uplifted. To quote Bill & Ted, “We are not worthy!!!” Please know how much it’s appreciated & how hard we’ll try to pay it forward every day! Love you all…

Meg, Rich & Jack

P.S.- Dammit friends…its Wayne & Garth not Bill & Ted! I knew I’d muck it up…

  1. We stay friends , cause I too need to haul around boulders while the men are pretty casual about taking things as they come . Glad Jack is taking things in stride . Continued good thoughts . We love you guys

    1. Hey girlie… thanks for the prayers. We’ll take all we can get! A round of hair care will be needed for Jack & I when we get home. We’re both a smidge scruffy! I’ll have Margaret keep you posted on our next appointments…

  4. Mag and family!
We often live our lives in “hurry up and wait” mode. Slowing down (intentional or not) is a true blessing in some form or another.
Prayers to you all and positive intentions from Jonesboro , IL.
    Love ya

    1. Thanks Tammy! We’re trying to focus on the positives this disease offers instead of the negatives. They’re small but meaningful. Thanks for sending prayers & positivity. We truly feel it…
