As I write this, Jack & I are waiting for him to get an injection in his stomach.  You’d think he wouldn’t be thrilled about this procedure, but he is.  That may sound a bit  crazy, but it’s the last hurdle he has to jump before we can leave BJC.  And this kid is WAY ready to go home!  In retrospect, this was a pretty uneventful admission.  There were no issues or side effects with the methotrexate infusion, but he ran a fever during the other two infusions of the second chemo.  This preciptated nasal swabs, blood cultures, and viral panels to investigate a cause.  As usual, they found nothing & they’ve begun to suspect that it’s just his immune system responding to the chemo.  Either way, it extended his admission by three very long days.  Not our preferred outcome, but it is what it is.  So what’s next?  First, we get 8 uninterrupted days at home (a record since November).  Next Tuesday, we head to STL for a port draw.  Friday is another port draw & a bone marrow biopsy.  Then, on March 12th, he’ll readmit for his 5th chemo infusion.  Until then, we’re looking forward to a few consecutive days at home.  It’s the little things, friends!!

Love to all…

Rich, Meg & Jack
