Greetings from St. Louis!  We’re back at BJC for another round of chemo.  Thought we’d provide everyone with an update.  After our last brief stay at BJC, we were home until 3/20.  Aside from a quick trip to Siteman for a PET scan & bone marrow biopsy on the 11th, we had no scheduled medical business.  It was a nice break!  Jack’s second leg of treatment was pending results from his 3/11 appointment.  We quickly got the results of the PET scan, which showed a complete resolution of his leukemia.  Per his oncology team, this was the best result they could see on his scan.  We were thrilled, but biopsy results were pending.  Within a few days, his oncology team shared that his biopsy results were negative and that for treatment purposes, he was considered to be in remission.  This was the best possible news we could have imagined.  He was considered MRD (minimal residual disease) negative, which is where we wanted to be.  Based on these results, his oncology team recommended that his current treatment regime remain the same.  So here we are, completing the 1st of four rounds of chemo.  This round is the “easy” chemo.  We have 2 more infusions in this round & hope to be paroled soon.  Once he’s discharged, he’ll have completed 5 rounds with 3 more to go.  It feels  like we’re closer to the finish line.  If no bone marrow transplant is required, he should be ending this phase of treatment in late May.  As always, thank you all for your love & support.  It’s gotten us through to this point & we don’t believe we could have done it without you!  You guys are the best & we love you!!!

I am so very delighted with this terrific news! Meg (especially), I put a note to you in today’s mail. Love and joy to the three of you (and of course Margaret and Jim and all of those I do not know). The final steps are getting close at hand. Serenity … thank you for the updates. I am happy for you that this latest is so positive.
