So Jack Johnson sings that 3 is a magic number & Las Vegas opines that sevens are lucky, but we Randles think that #8 is great!  #8… like the 8th floor.  Or like the 8th & final round of treatment.  As you may recall, Jack started his journey in room 8820 way back in November.   Seven months later, he finished strong on the 8th floor in room 8806.  That was his last inpatient chemo & it went well.  Now, we start the maintenance phase of his treatment.  We’re looking forward to being in STL once a month instead of twice a week.  Eventually, we’ll have appointments every 3 months.  He’ll start back to SIU in the fall & plans on growing back his “amazing” mustache.  In all honesty, I’ve never been a fan of the mustache, but I’ll be thrilled to see that hairy little bastard hanging out on my son’s upper lip.  All things normal are welcome!!!

As always, we’re incredibly grateful for all the love, support, help, prayers, kindness, care, positive energy, and encouragement.  You all have been the best village our family could have hoped for.  As I’ve said before, we know we wouldn’t be where we are without all of you.  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!  You’re the best!

All our love…

Rich, Meg & Jack

  1. Hey Meg,
It’s Vanessa Hopkins. I’ve been following this eventful journey and I’m so glad it’s almost over. Although I’ve enjoyed every update, I hated that there was a need for it. It warms my heart that Jack is healing.

It’s funny how those annoying things that kids do that gets on your last nerve now serves as a landmark of answered prayers……so I assume Jack is getting a mustache comb in his stocking this Christmas lol.

I will continue to send up prayers for everlasting strength, healing and good test results. I’m so happy that your family is getting back to normal.

    Keep the faith,
    Vanessa Hopkins

    1. Hey Vanessa,
Thanks for following along & supporting us. It’s been a marathon, but we can see the finish line! You’re correct… he’ll get a mustache comb, mustache wax, whatever he desires. Last year, he got a wig & fake stick on mustaches, so we’ve come a long way!

Also, congratulations to you on your retirement. Always glad to hear when folks are paroled from their sentence at Choate. 🤣
